About Empowerme

The game is one of the tools most used by man to have fun, to learn, to experience the world and to relate to others.

EmpowerMe is a European project that consists of several classroom workshops with secondary school students and the use of a serious game, i.e. a tool that – unlike a simple game – is designed to solve some kind of problem.

The aim of the project is didactic-educational. Through workshops in schools and the project’s teaching tool, we combined gamification with the methodology of visual philosophy.

The didactic tool, in fact, is an illustrated card game. On the front of the cards, Lucia Catellani of @breadandjam created 25 illustrations for us that metaphorically represent the theme. On the back of each card are concepts and questions to start the debate. The scientific and historical advice was realised with the collaboration of Giulia Muscatelli and Jennifer Guerra.

The educational game-tool is completed by a guide, a poster on the history of feminism and two joker cards (Intersectionality and Axis of Oppressions/Privileges).

Our aim is to innovate in didactics with methods and methodologies based on gaming and the evocative power of images; to stimulate reflection, debate and knowledge enhancement on feminism issues (including intersectionality); to promote the rights of girls, girls and women.
